The Spotsylvania Planning Commission will meet on January 2nd at 7:00 p.m. in the Marshall Center Auditorium.
At the December 5th and 19th Planning Commission meetings, the three sPower Special Use Permit (SUP) public hearings were held. On December 5th the Planning Commission voted 5-2 (Thompson and Maddox) to continue the public hearing to the January 2nd meeting, but close the public comment period for the first SUP. On December 19th, the Planning Commission voted 6-1 (Maddox) to continue the public hearing to the January 2nd meeting, but close the public comment period for the second and third SUPs.
Since the Planning Commission closed the public comment period, residents will not be able to make any comments pertaining to the sPower applications at this meeting. In the previous two meetings, no Planning Commissioners asked any questions or made any comments, so it is expected that this session will focus on the applicant answering questions and the public receiving the Planning Commissioners first impressions on the project.
The Planning Department staff, after reviewing the recently submitted sPower plans, is now recommending approval of all three SUPs with conditions.
While the Planning Commission public hearings have been closed for public comment, the public will have another opportunity to address any changes or new plans by sPower when this application is presented to the Board of Supervisors.
