May 13 2017 - Mental Health of America Fredericksburg 10th annual Walk for Mental Wellness

Yesterday, my dad, sister, and I participated in Mental Health of America Fredericksburg's 10th annual Walk for Mental Wellness. Mental Health of America Fredericksburg offers a lot of great services for the community including a senior visitors program, suicide prevention education, and a help line (540-371-2704) to direct individuals to mental health professionals.

Spotsylvania County has recognized the great work of Mental Health of America of Fredericksburg by allocating over $27,000 to their organization in Fiscal Year 2018. This resource allocation is beneficial to the community as Mental Health of America Fredericksburg has an immense positive impact that will always be much more efficient than the government. Additionally, Mental Health of America Fredericksburg is focused on working with other groups and organizations to further enhance its impact on the community. Mental Health is an issue that affects many aspects of our lives if left unaddressed and we need to support those doing the noble work every day.

As your supervisor, I will advocate for and support local organizations that address ongoing community needs, such as mental wellness. The issues we face as a community are clear. It is also clear that we need officials not only willing to speak about these issues but to take action to address them.
