April 25, 2017 - Board of Supervisors Approve Final Plans for County Animal Shelter Renovation and Expansion

On April 25th, the Board of Supervisors voted 5-2 to approve final plans to expand the existing Animal Shelter facility located at 450 Tv Drive from roughly 9,000 sq feet to close to 20,000 sq. feet. The total cost of the project will be roughly $4.72 million, which is one million more than originally projected. The project will be paid with 2014 Bond Referendum money. Also, the Jackson Village project re-zoning earmarked $1 million in proffers for Animal Shelter improvements, but the county will likely need to be reimbursed as the shelter will be constructed prior to collecting the full $1 million. The renovations are expected to bring the facility up to full compliance with Virginia Code and fulfill Spotsy's projected shelter needs for the next 10-20 years.
