Billions in Federal Funding for Schools on Hold

Local officials don’t have the luxury of passing the buck. When federal or state leaders reduce or freeze funding, local leaders must step up—not with excuses, but with solutions. We must get creative, resourceful, and, above all, responsive to the needs of our community.

One of my core pledges to the community is to be solution-based, not excuse-based. As federal and state decisions unfold, I won’t waste time pointing fingers. I’ll be working—collaborating with stakeholders and finding ways to protect our students, staff, and schools.

Based on recent conversations with SCPS officials, we still don’t know the full extent of how the funding freeze will impact our district. But one thing is clear: this moment underscores the importance of local elections—and why I’m running for Lee Hill School Board.

Our students and families deserve dedicated, steady, and common-sense leadership that will prioritize high-quality education, even during uncertain times. While we can’t always control what happens at the state or federal level, we can choose leaders who will work relentlessly to keep our schools strong.
