On July 27th, the Spotsylvania County Budget and Grants office provided an informational presentation to the Board of Supervisors on the budgeted costs that are mandated.
For the FY 2021 Adopted General Fund Budget of $292 million - almost 82% or $238 million - are categorized as mandated or committed costs. Keep in mind these mandated costs do not include Fire, Rescue, & Emergency Management (FREM) - which most citizens would view as an essential or mandated service.
