Yesterday, I dropped by the Operation Hood Spring Fundraiser and was impressed with the variety of raffle items donated by local businesses to assist with money raising efforts for the cat rescue operations. When my wife and I moved to Spotsy five years ago, it was heartbreaking to see the volume of stray and feral cats behind the old Pizza Hut on Route 1. The Operation Hood volunteers have made a visual impact on that area since they began to provide food, medical services, spaying, neutering, and adoption services. With these rescue operations, not only are they providing the care these animals deserve, they are also improving the community and saving county money. With each cat adoption, they are relieving a potential burden from our county-run Animal Shelter, which reduces a financial burden for the community. Operation Hood should be commended and supported for these actions.
