At a recent candidate forum, school safety was a key topic of discussion. I shared my belief that we must ensure school staff receive the highest-quality training to prepare for emergencies. In addition, I support increasing security and safety personnel at the central office level. This would help ensure we have sufficient resources to oversee training and safety efforts across all schools and further strengthen SCPS’s partnership with the Sheriff’s Department.

I will bring that same vigilance to our schools—advocating for comprehensive safety solutions that are effective, responsible, and balanced with the need to maintain a welcoming and supportive learning environment.
