Spotsylvania Trash Decal Plan Paused for More Discussion

The Board of Supervisors are expected to discuss this issue again at their November 17th meeting. Although this plan has been described as a County staff plan, on April 9th, the Board of Supervisors voted 6-1 (Yakabouski opposed) to charge County residents $3 for this trash decal. At this April meeting, Battlefield Supervisor Chris Yakabouski argued that County residents already pay $25 for a County decal in their personal property bill, the County just doesn't send it. None of the other Supervisors were persuaded, until after the October 27th meeting when some residents complained about the plan. If anything this highlights why minor policy issues shouldn't be undertaken during the budget process, because it's clear minimal thought went into this original decision.
