Spotsy Transportation Projects Fail To Receive State Funds

At recent Board of Supervisor meetings, Supervisor Yakabouski has advocated to use County Bond Referendum authority to finance transportation projects that Spotsy voters supported in 2014. Supervisor Yakabouski also advocated to use Bond authority during last year’s budget cycle, but was unsuccessful at getting other supervisors support. The Board majority wanted to wait on the results of the Third Round of SMARTSCALE, which ranks state-wide transportation projects and distributes state funds to the highest scoring projects.

These SMARTSCALE draft results were released in late January and Spotsy’s four projects did not score well enough to receive state funding. These projects are below (refresh the page if the PDF does not appear).

However, a City of Fredericksburg project that proposed the addition of a dedicated right turn lane at the intersection of Dixon street and Lansdowne road was approved. This should be helpful tp Spotsy residents.
