Proposed Spotsylvania Solar Facility Finalizes Contingent Agreements for Power Distribution

Sustainable Power group, or sPower, the company working to convert over 6,000 acres to a solar facility in western Spotsylvania has made contingent agreements with several companies to distribute all expected power generated from the facility.

Over the last few months at County meetings, a few residents have expressed concern over how this solar facility may produce excess power to the grid. Others have expressed concern over the notion that Spotsylvania County will receive no power generated from the facility. Based on Scott Shenk’s article below it appears that sPower made arrangements for all the power to be used by several companies. It also appears that none of the power will be allocated to Spotsylvania County residents.

There is still no scheduled Spotsylvania Planning Commission public hearing date for the solar facility’s Special Use Permit application.
