New Court Program for Veterans Begins in Spotsylvania
Cathy Dyson recently reported on a new Spotsylvania court program called the Rappahannock Veterans Docket. The program allows veterans charged with specific crimes to enter a plea agreement to enter a 5-phase program, which provides veteran centric rehabilitation. Those unable to complete the program or abide by the agreement would face the full punishment of the crime. Spotsylvania is home to 14,578 veterans, according to the 2017 Virginia Department of Veteran Services. The program needs mentors as well as offers to veterans for jobs and housing.
