Mental Health America of Fredericksburg Call for Volunteers

One hour a week can make a difference to someone!

A volunteer writes: “I find that the program is just as wonderful for me as it is for [my client]. I really love visiting her. She is such a sweetheart.”

The Senior Visitors Program is a service program in the Fredericksburg area that promotes independence and healthy living for older adults in their own home environment and fosters a continued connection to their community. This program matches socially isolated seniors with trained volunteers who provide a friendly visit for an hour on a weekly basis.

There is no cost for this program to the client. The ongoing relationship can make the Senior Visitors Program an especially meaningful and satisfying experience for the volunteer while it fills a void in the life of an elderly person in our community. The Senior Visitors Program is actively seeking volunteers to serve as visitors.

The upcoming Senior Visitors Program Orientation and Training dates for Volunteers are
(Registration required):

February 10, Saturday, 1:30 pm to 6:00 pm
February 15, Thursday, 9:00 am to 1:30 pm

To register for an Orientation, for more information about volunteering for the Senior Visitors Program, or about how to refer a senior citizen to the program, please contact the Senior Visitors Program at 540-371-2704 or email: mhafsv@mhafred.org
