Opioids Continue to Negatively Affect Fredericksburg Region
New statistics show that in the first two quarters of 2017, Opioid-related deaths have outpaced car crash deaths, and deaths by shooting, according to the Virginia Department of Health.
In December 2017, the Centers for Disease Controls cited opioid abuse as a notable factor in the drop in U.S. life expectancy between 2015-1016.
While some of the recent overdose deaths figures have been reduced due to the use of Narcan by public safety officials the abuse and incidents remain elevated in the area.
We need to conitnue to press local officials to stay informed and develop solutions to this gorwing issue.
